Linda has been bringing in all sorts of new wines to the shop lately. Last night we had fish tacos for dinner and decided to try a wine from Argentina. The Cuvelier Los Andes is a blend of Malbec, Merlot, and Cabernet. This wine was really good. Very powerful flavor and long finish. It went great with the spicy chipotle sauce on the tacos. It has good balance and lots of fruit. Cost $45

We worked all day at the wine store and finally closed up at 6:00ish – decided to order a pizza and have it delivered at the store – sausage, mushrooms, olives, onions and jalapenos – yes, jalapenos. With a spicy pizza we decided to select a big red Zin to go along. The ’04 Napa Cellars Zin just arrived a couple days ago and so we decided to try this. Nice fruity nose with bold flavors of dark berries, licorice and light tannins on the finish. Very pleasant drinking wine – balanced all around and a great value at $20!
Wow… what a great wine. Good color and a “cola” nose. This went really well with our steaks. Big enough to be a syrah, but not over the top.

Visited my dear friend Donna and her sister Lorrie last night for some wine and dinner out at Masa Sushi in Camarillo. Donna and Lorrie go way back with Masa and his wife — late nights at the sushi bar after many saki’s and beer. Before we headed to the sushi bar for our little reunion we relaxed on Donna’s porch with a bottle of Tobin James Fat Boy Zinfandel. Donna received from her James Gang club membership and has been saving it for just the right occassion. The Fat Boy is a big Zin from winemaker Tobin James with layers of black fruits and ripe plum flavors with hints of vanilla in the long finish. The sushi was good too
