Lot’s of jammy fruit, slight alchohol in the beggining. But did burn off and openened up nicely.
Paired this with braised shortribs and duck (at Brooks, Ventura CA) YUMMM!!! Probably the best meal all year.
This is a big syrah that goes good with big BBQ.

Wow.. We had a great dinner last night. Our friend Donna was celebrating her birthday so we decided to make her dinner. She LOVES salmon, so Linda whipped some up and it was fabulous. Javanese salmon with spinich ( http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/107073 ) and a tomato and bread salad. We opened up a 2004 Terry Hoage 46 for the appitizer. It was excellent. Donna brought a 2001 Isosceles that we decanted and had with the main course. WOW, what a wine. It is holding up wonderfully. It is so full of flavor and lots of texture, but smooth and long finish. This is one of my favorite wines. Definately went well with the brown sugar of the salmon. YUM
Tonight we tried our first bottle of wine from our Wino Club shipment the Palmina Barbera from Lompoc. We had it with some peach chutney chicken that we bbq’d. It was a great fit. The Barbera is very fruity but now overly sweet. It has a fruity bouquet of rasberries and blueberries and some soft spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. It has a smooth finish with some light tannins. I imagine it would be good with dessert as well. Linda- thanks for picking this one out for the Wino Club. C&B
